Had an absolute blast with these guys! The day before they called us to let us know due to weather we may not be able to do the island tour, but that was fine because our priority was the seal snorkel, and we weren't charged for the tour part. Sophie was a guide, and Sam was our skipper. They were both great! We were thoroughly briefed on safety before getting in the water, but it didn't drag on or take away from the fun. Sophie knew all of the spots, told us about all the different fish and marine creatures we were seeing and warned us of which areas to avoid. The boat trip to the island was 15 minutes, not sure what one of the other reviewers is on about. It was great, we were fortunate that the seals were keen to interact with us. Price was great considering it also included the wetsuit, snorkel and fins. Water and snacks were also provided on board. Thanks so much Sophie!
Very disappointed with our experience with Lighthouse Charters. We paid for the Montague Island NPWS Guided Discovery Tour Seals & Whale Watching, which was $110 per person. The tour supposedly included a tour of the Montague Island lighthouse as well as seal and whale watching over a 4 hour period (as stated by their website). However due to the high numbers of visitors that day from other tour companies, they told us when disembarked the ship that no lighthouse tours will be conducted today. We would understand if this was the case we would be refunded or told prior to booking that this was a possibility and if it was out of their control. We only saw the seals for 3 minutes before we got to Montague Island, which was not a substantial amount of time in the scheme of things. There was no whale watching prior to returning to shore and the total time for the tour was 2.5 hours (with 1 hour of the 2.5 hours for travel time to and from Montague Island). Price is too high and it under delivered on expectations of the tour. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Awesome experience and great hosts!!! very professional and fun. I would have a strong recommendation to anyone on south coast to give this great experience a go.
Although we stayed in Narooma for 4 nights in mid-October, strong winds kept us from attending the Montague Island & Penguin tour until our last night in Narooma. Wazza was extremely accommodating in the week leading up to our visit, personally taking our calls, providing weather forecast updates and advising of potential days for our tour. Even up until 15 minutes before our departure time, Wazza was checking the most up to date forecast, ensuring the safety of all passengers. Ultimately, Wazza decided to proceed with the evenings tour based on the information at hand and his experience, with the remote chance of poor weather not eventuating. It was not long until encountered some whales playing not far off the coast. In addition to whales, we also encountered dolphins who happily played in the boats wake. Upon arrival at Montague Island, we were greeted by hundreds of seals. Sophie was tremendous, explaining the difference species as well as their behaviours, carrying on from earlier commentary on whales and dolphins. Once on Montague island, we were welcomed by national park rangers and volunteers, who provided valuable insight to the history of the island, and the important conservation work the national park service continually does on the island. We were given a tour of the lighthouse, the lighthouse keepers quarters, culminating with the return of penguins to the island at dusk. At the tours end, Wazza and Sophie thanked everyone for our attendance, as well as our patience with the weather over the week, which showed extreme professionalism. Overall, the tour was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend this tour for the teams professionalism, value, and the unique wildlife encountered
Amazing day with over a dozen whales who came close around the boat, plus dolphins & seals along the way. Perfect day in Narooma. Sophie's commentary and Wazza's driving and cheerfulness made for a great day. Really appreciate how Wazza went out of his way to make life easier for my elderly mum
